The Middlebury Land trust is hosting Master Wildlife Conservationist Ginny Apple, who will present “Black Bears in Connecticut” Friday, May 16, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in Shepardson Auditorium at 1172 Whittemore Road in Middlebury. Pre-registration is appreciated but not required at mlt@middleburylandtrust.org.

Living in a house surrounded by Peoples State Forest, Apple observes a large population of black bears and supplies field notes and photographs on them to Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) bear biologists. Her affinity for this magnificent creature led her out west to participate in a Grizzly research mission in Montana and to become a Master Wildlife Conservationist with DEEP.
