The Middlebury Police Department arrested Department of Public Works (DPW) employee Aline Dasilva, 41, following an investigation into cleaning supplies missing from the police facility. An investigation was initiated after a DPW supervisor reported that cleaning supplies assigned to the Police Department were unaccounted for. During the course of the investigation, officers identified DPW custodian Aline Dasilva as a suspect.

Investigators obtained video surveillance footage showing Dasilva placing paper towels and Lysol products into her personal bag before exiting the police department. Officers stopped Dasilva in the parking lot as she attempted to leave. She was brought back into the building for questioning.

During the interview, Dasilva admitted to taking the items. She was placed under arrest and charged with Larceny in the Second Degree, in violation of Connecticut General Statute 53a‑123. Dasilva was released on a $1,000 bond and assigned a court date of July 1, 2026, at Waterbury Superior Court.

The Middlebury Police Department will have no further comment at this time, as this remains an active criminal case.
