Wreaths Across America comes to Watertown Saturday. The public is invited to join members of the Trumbull-Porter Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution and members of the Waterbury Veterans Memorial Committee Saturday, December 17, 2022, at 12 p.m. at the Old Burying Grounds on Depot Street in Watertown as they honor our veterans.
A dedication will be read and wreaths for each branch of the Armed Forces and POW/MIA will be placed in the cemetery as well as wreaths for all known veterans buried in this cemetery.
During the past 14 years, the two groups have joined together to hold a Wreaths Across America ceremony; the first four years in Riverside Cemetery in Waterbury and the past 10 years in Watertown.
Eighty-two known veterans are buried in Watertown, from the French and Indian War, American Revolution, War of 1812, and the Civil War. (Four served in two wars, the Revolution, and the War of 1812.
