The Hitt family at 533 Three Mile Hill Road will again decorate their yard for Halloween and collect donations for the Middlebury Food Bank in a bin out front of their property. Don’t miss their display. Bring your nonperishable donations by between Monday, October 24, and Tuesday, November 1.

Parks and Rec Trick or Trunk

This Middlebury Parks and Rec event for Middlebury residents will be Saturday, October 29, from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Memorial Middle School parking lot. Rain date Sunday, October 30.

This is a safe, kid-friendly Halloween activity for family members of all ages. Participating departments, committees, organizations, and individuals decorate their trunks/hatches and distribute treats to costumed characters while family and friends get to mingle in a social atmosphere.

For the second year, it will include a Trunk Decorating Contest. The winners will get gift cards, have a photo of themselves standing next to their winning entry posted in the Community Center for the month of November, and best of all – Bragging rights! Compete for most creative, creepiest, funniest, and looks least like a car.

Residents who wish to participate are asked to contact Park and Rec at 203-758-2520, ext. 2. Setup will be 12 to 1 p.m. For safety reasons, please arrive by 12:45 p.m. and plan to stay until 3 p.m.

Donations of candy to the participating civic organizations are always appreciated. To donate, please contact the office at the number listed above. Please RSVP no later than Monday, October 24.

La Strega Trick or Trunk

La Strega Italian Deli is sponsoring a Halloween Trick or Trunk Sunday, October 30, at 5 p.m. in the back parking lot at 338 Middlebury Road. Celebrate a fun, safe event with your little ghosts and goblins. Come dressed in your Halloween best.

Fire Department Party

The Middlebury Volunteer Fire Department Halloween Party will be Monday, October 31, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the firehouse on Tucker Hill Road. Children can enter costume contests and enjoy treats. The costume contest registration will begin at 5:45 p.m., and judging will start promptly at 6:15 p.m.

All Hollow’s Eve

Woodbury’s Glebe House remaining All Hollow’s Eve events will be Saturday, October 29, (The Witch of Woodbury and Friends with The Estate of Panic). Space is limited for all events, so advance ticket purchases are recommended.

On October 29, the Witch of Woodbury, Moll Cramer, will come to life in a special presentation in the Glebe yard. Presentations every hour start at 5:30 p.m. and end at 8:30 p.m.

The Estate of Panic – For this event, the museum is professionally staged to create a unique experience and the themes are designed to be different each year to delight visitors again and again. It will be open from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m.

Family Fun Days

For the price of admission, children can enjoy a Halloween event Saturday, October 29, from 1 to 6 p.m. at the Mattatuck Museum in Waterbury. A day of spooky fun will be headlined by special effects artist Tyler Green from 2 to 4 p.m. This event also will include mask-making, a costume contest, picture frame making, a gallery-wide scavenger hunt and a screening of “Coco” from 4 to 6 p.m.
