This is an increase of 18,428 cases over one week. The state daily test positivity rate as of Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at 8:30 p.m. was 14%, up from 13.24% on Wednesday, May 11, 2022, at 8:30 p.m.

On May 18 at 8:30 p.m., 369 COVID-19 patients were hospitalized, 78 more than on May 11. Through Wednesday, May 18, deaths numbered 10,922, an increase of 39 deaths since May 11.

Cumulative cases in Middlebury and abutting towns were: Middlebury – 1,302 (+42) confirmed and 261 (+8) probable, Naugatuck – 6,699 confirmed and 1,324 probable, Oxford – 2,147 confirmed and 279 probable, Southbury – 2,779 confirmed and 663 probable, Woodbury – 1,316 confirmed and 269 probable, Watertown – 4,343 confirmed and 750 probable, and Waterbury – 28,928 confirmed and 4,110 probable.
