This is an increase of 14,654 cases over four days. The state daily test positivity rate as of Sunday, December 26, 2021, at 8:30 p.m. was 10.71%, up from 9.02% on Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at 8:30 p.m.,

On Sunday at 8:30 p.m., 925 COVID-19 patients were hospitalized, an increase of 88 patients since Wednesday. Through Wednesday, December 22, deaths numbered 9,077, an increase of 75 deaths since December 15. Deaths are reported once a week.

Cumulative cases in Middlebury and abutting towns were: Middlebury – 872 (+20) confirmed and 167 (+2) probable, Naugatuck – 4,440 confirmed and 764 probable, Oxford – 1,372 confirmed and 177 probable, Southbury – 1,741 confirmed and 359 probable, Woodbury – 844 confirmed and 171 probable, Watertown – 3,011 confirmed and 528 probable, and Waterbury – 19,762 confirmed and 2,748 probable.
