On Thursday, August 26, 2021, Connecticut state officials said from Sunday, August 22 , 2021, at 8:30 p.m. to Wednesday, August 25, 2021, at 8:30 p.m., the number of COVID-19 cases in the state rose to 369,920. This is an increase of 2,510 cases over three days. The state daily test positivity rate as of Wednesday, August 25, 2021, at 8:30 p.m. was 3.64%, up from 3.5% on Sunday, August 22, 2021, at 8:30 p.m.

On Wednesday at 8:30 p.m., 380 COVID-19 patients were hospitalized, an increase of 11 patients since Sunday. Through Wednesday, August 25, deaths numbered 8,355, an increase of 25 deaths since August 18. Deaths are reported once a week.

Cumulative cases in Middlebury and abutting towns were: Middlebury – 665 (+7) confirmed and 104 (-1) probable, Naugatuck – 3,380 confirmed and 409 probable, Oxford – 922 confirmed and 96 probable, Southbury – 1,320 confirmed and 255 probable, Woodbury – 599 confirmed and 92 probable, Watertown – 2,314 confirmed and 344 probable, and Waterbury – 15,388 confirmed and 1,954 probable.
