Police arrest driver of stolen vehicle

Tuesday, July 21, 2020, at 3:24 a.m., Middlebury Police Officers Michael Favale and Fred Duverger were dispatched to the area of Leonard Road and Freedom Road to investigate a report of suspicious males looking into cars in the area. The officers located Philip Maldonado, 19, of Waterbury, Connecticut, driving a 2009 Subaru Tribeca that had been reported stolen out of Waterbury.

Maldonado was arrested for weapons in a motor vehicle. He was charged with third degree larceny for possession of a stolen motor vehicle and for sixth degree larceny. He was held on a $10,000 bond and transported to Waterbury Superior Court for arraignment.
