Middlebury budget hearing, special BoF meeting Tuesday, April 7

#Middlebury #Budget

Residents can watch both the public hearing for the Town of Middlebury proposed budget and the Middlebury Board of Finance (BoF) special meeting following it tonight, Tuesday, April 7, starting at 6:30 p.m. Both will be presented via Zoom.

Taxpayers may not get to vote on the proposed budget, and the Board of Finance is expected to discuss that possibility at its special meeting tonight. Governor Ned Lamont’s executive order 7I, issued March 21, 2020, suspended in-person budget adoption requirements for municipalities (and for Regional Boards of Education). It gave the BoF the authority to adopt a 2020-2021 budget and set a mil rate without having a referendum, and it gave the Region 15 Board of Education the authority to adopt a 2020-2021 school budget without holding a referendum.
