The Trumbull-Porter Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) recently held its 13th annual Valentines for Veterans Workshop at the VFW Post #7330 in Oakville. Participants from area towns were not only members of the chapter and their families but also members of the Charles Merriman Society, Children of the American Revolution (CAR). They made 215 Valentine cards.

Donations of individually wrapped candy allowed them to also make 203 individual bags of assorted candies to be given to the veterans in the hospitals. All the cards and candy have been distributed to the Connecticut VA Hospitals at West Haven, Newington and Rocky Hill.

Phyllis Schaar, from the Ladies Auxiliary Post #7330 and a Trumbull-Porter Chapter NSDAR member, presented certificates of appreciation for their continued service to our veterans to the Charles Merriman Society, CAR members, and the Connecticut State Society, CAR members, who have participated in most of the Valentine Workshops during the past 13 years.

The Ladies Auxiliary also presented a certificate of appreciation for their continued support of veterans to the Trumbull-Porter Chapter members.

The Trumbull-Porter Chapter serves Naugatuck, Watertown, Oakville, Prospect, Southbury, Middlebury, Woodbury, Waterbury, Oxford and other area towns.
