March 27 Absentee Ballots Available

Absentee ballots are available in the Middlebury Town Clerk’s office for the March 27, 2019 Referendum. Electors and property owners owning property assessed at $1,000 or more on the last completed grand list are eligible to vote. They must also be a U.S. citizen and at least 18 years old.

An application must be filled out before a ballot can be issued. The applications are available at the Town Clerk’s office or can be downloaded from the Secretary of the State’s website at www.sots.ct.gov under Elections & Voting.

The following 4 questions will be on the ballot:

Question #1: “Shall the $4.2 million appropriation and bond issuance authorization to repair and improve Middlebury Roads (2019), as adopted by the Boards of Selectmen and Finance, be approved? YES/NO”

Question #2: “Shall the $1.6 million appropriation and bond issuance authorization for the Middlebury Capital Asset Revitalization Program, Phase 2019, consisting of the improvement and repair of police department, town hall, library, Shepardson Community Center, fire department headquarters, public works, Fenn Farm, historical society, and park and recreation buildings and facilities, as adopted by the Boards of Selectmen and Finance, be approved? YES/NO”

Question #3: “Shall the $3.5 million appropriation and bond issuance authorization to renovate and replace sewage pump stations in the Town of Middlebury, as adopted by the Boards of Selectmen and Finance, be approved? YES/NO”

Question #4:“Shall the Town approve the sale of a 134.11 acre parcel known as 69 Nichols Road to the Middlebury Land Trust, Inc. for the sum of $225,000 as recommended by the Middlebury Planning and Zoning Commission and the Board of Selectmen in accordance with C.G.S. §8-24 and the Middlebury Town Charter Chapter IX Sec. 904F? YES/NO”

The Middlebury Town Clerk’s office at 1212 Whittemore Road is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Additional information may be obtained by calling the office at 203-758-2557.
