Christmas tree lighting on the green

The annual tree lighting and Christmas caroling around the Green (with a visit from Santa) will be Saturday, Dec. 2, at 4 p.m. on the Green.

Gingerbread Village & Christmas Bazaar

St. George’s Episcopal Church on Tucker Hill Road in Middlebury celebrates its 50th year of offering a Gingerbread Village and Christmas Bazaar from Saturday, Dec. 2, through Saturday, Dec. 9. The event includes a bake shoppe, decorate your own cookie, dollar store, Christmas crafts, basket raffle, and Saturday luncheons. For more information, visit gingerbreadvillagect.com. Roxbury

Christmas church fair

“Country Church Christmas Fair,” a holiday fair at the Roxbury Congregational Church will be Saturday, Dec. 2, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 24 Church St. in Roxbury.
The fair, long a favorite among those hunting for unusual gifts, will feature two silent auctions. One will be donated items of value including antiques, art, hard goods and home goods. The other will be donated goods and services from local and regional stores.
A hearty lunch featuring homemade sandwiches and soups will be served from 11 a.m. Santa will make an appearance for photographs and children can make simple crafts in the Children’s Corner. Nice Twice will offer used items and bargains. Also on sale will be the popular Fellowship Table cookbook authored by church members.
Proceeds from the fair help support the ongoing mission of the congregation in Roxbury and the wider region.

Waterbury

Connecticut Christmas

The Waterbury Symphony Orchestra (WSO) presents Prokofiev’s “Peter and the Wolf” Sunday, Dec. 3, at 3 p.m. at the Naugatuck Valley Community College Fine Arts Center in Waterbury.

During this fairy tale time of year in Connecticut, the WSO celebrates the festive season with musical fairy tales for the ages. Come hear Cinderella meet her prince, Goldilocks dodge the Three Bears and Peter do battle with the big bad Wolf. A Christmas carol singalong and milk and cookies for all will make this a treasured memory for the whole family!

Woodbury

Glebe House open house

The Glebe House Holiday Open House and Holiday Boutique will be Saturday, Dec. 2, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The public is welcome to attend. The open house will include re-enactors bringing to life holiday celebrations during the Revolutionary War era and sharing stories about how the family that lived there prepared for the holiday season. Admission is free; donations are appreciated.
