Brass City Ballet is holding open auditions Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 24 and 25, and Saturday, Oct. 1, for young children with or without previous dance experience for its annual December production of “The Nutcracker.”

Children and adults ages 12 and older with dance experience can audition Saturday, Sept. 24, from 10:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Children ages ages 5 to 12 with little or no dance experience are invited to audition from 2 to 3:30 p.m. any of the three audition days.

A Nutcracker Q & A each audition day from 2 to 2:30 p.m. will offer parents detailed information about the production. Auditions will be held at Brass City Ballet’s studio in The Hamlet at 1255 Middlebury Road in Middlebury next to Middlebury Pizza. All participants are asked to arrive 15 minutes before the audition in order to register. An audition fee of $25 is payable on the day of the audition.

“Brass City Ballet’s The Nutcracker is a wonderful community event and tradition,, said Artistic Director Elizabeth Fisk Barisser. “Our production finds a way to include everyone who seeks a part.  The parents get involved, the children discover the magic of the theater, and there’s a lot of pride from taking part in this special family bonding experience.”

Those who cannot attend the auditions can call 203-598-0186 or email info@brasscityballet.org to ask about alternative audition dates. For more information, call Brass City Ballet at 203-598-0186 or visit its website, www.brasscityballet.org.
