Ford’s Gas Station to become a Citgo

20151103_143735Ford’s gas station at 550 Middlebury Road in Middlebury was sold Friday, Oct. 30, to Sabbir Properties LLC of Terryville, Conn. Their A.N.Z. Petroleum Company will open a Citgo gasoline station there.

A.N.Z. Petroleum office manager Riaz Uddin said in a telephone interview Tuesday, “We are committed to offering the cheapest gas prices to our customers.”

He said the company has been in business 15 years and owns and operates about a dozen gasoline stations with locations in Thomaston, Terryville, Torrington and New Milford.

Uddin said the new station will include a convenience store and also will sell breakfast foods and fried chicken. He said the breakfast items will be sold by Honey Dew Donuts, a Massachusetts firm, and chicken, salads and fries will be sold by Krispy Krunchy Chicken, a Louisiana-based company that has been selling Cajun-style chicken since 1989.

Former owner Robert Ford was busy Tuesday going through things and cleaning out the station for the new owners. He said he is looking forward to having more time to spend with his nine grandchildren.

Town hall filings show the property, which comprises three parcels and is on the corner of Middlebury Road and Glenwood Avenue, sold for $460,000.
