Town advises residents to be prepared for hybrid storm

This post from the Town of Middlebury advises residents to be prepared for this weekend’s long duration “hybrid” nor’easter. The most likely rain scenario at this point is 2-3.5 inches of rain between Friday night and Monday, and wind gusts of 45-55 mph. The worst case scenario is 50-65 mph winds and up to 7 inches of rain depending on where heavy rain bands set up. Impacts will be stronger in coastal areas no matter where the storm sets up, and coastal flooding is expected.

If you live in a low-lying area prone to flooding, take steps to protect your vehicles and property. Do not attempt to cross a flooded roadway – “Turn Around, Don’t Drown.”

Power outages should be reported to Eversource at www.eversource.com/cg/customer/reportoutage or 1-800-286-2000. Eversource has pre-staged tree and line crews, and will prioritize power restoration based on need: emergency and high-priority customers first (hospitals for example) and then outages based on the number of customers affected by the outage. If you see downed electric lines, assume they are live and call 911 immediately.
