Region 15 Superintendent of Schools wrote in an email, “Region 15 Staff and Families, it is with great sadness that I share the loss of a lifelong Region 15 student. Please see the email below that was sent to Pomperaug High School families.”
That email, sent Saturday, July 11, 2026, by Principal Paul N. Jones, follows
Good Morning,
We are sad to share that our recent graduate, David Young, passed away in a vehicular accident last night. David was a funny and bright young man, and we will miss what he brought to the world. We have been in communication with his family and will continue to support them in this terrible time. We will open the PHS Library today from 3:00-5:00 if any student needs to speak with a school staff member or simply wants to be together. While it is summer, we want our students to know that we care about them as they cope with this loss. Our hearts go out to his family and friends, as well as our whole Pomperaug school community.
