Incumbent 71st District State Representative William Pizzuto has been awarded funding from the Citizen’s Election Program for his run for a third term in the General Assembly. His re-election campaign met the thresholds to qualify for funding from CEP following his endorsement for the 71st District seat.
The CEP is a voluntary Connecticut program that enables qualifying candidates for the General Assembly and statewide offices to receive public financing for their campaigns if they meet the thresholds set by the program. Thanks to the generous support of Middlebury and Waterbury residents that Rep. Pizzuto received across the district, his campaign was able to demonstrate the CEP-required local support by raising small-dollar contributions from a substantial number of individuals.
In a 2022 Special Election, and then unopposed in the 2024 General Election, Pizzuto ran successful campaigns to represent the 71st District.
Rep. Pizzuto currently serves on the Aging, Children, and Human Services committees. He looks forward to continuing to serve the people in Middlebury and Waterbury, representing their interests in Hartford. During his tenure in the Legislature, Rep. Pizzuto has advocated for making Connecticut a more affordable, safer place to live, work, and raise a family. He supported an historic income tax cut and bills making it easier for seniors to age in place and has been an advocate for utility reforms.
Pizzuto thanks his constituents, family and friends for their encouragement over the years, and asks for their continued support in the August 11, 2026, primary.
