A legal notice in the Sunday, March 15, 2026, area daily newspaper announced voters from Middlebury and Southbury may attend a public meeting of Regional School District 15 on Monday, March 23, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. in the media center at Pomperaug High School at 234 Judd Road in Southbury for a public hearing on the following Board of Education recommendation.
- That $224 million may be appropriated for planning, design, acquisition, construction, furnishing and equipping two new elementary schools to replace Pomperaug Elementary School and Gainfield Elementary School (the “Project”) and the Board of Education (BoE) will appoint a building committee. The BOE, in consultation with that committee, shall determine the final scope and particulars of the Project and may reduce or modify that scope.
- That $224 million bond and temporary notes be authorized to finance the appropriation. The amount shall be reduced by grants the district receives and applies to project costs. Grants are currently estimated to be 64.2% of eligible costs.
- That the chairperson, treasurer and other proper officer and district officials are authorized to take all actions necessary or desirable to complete the Project and to issue bonds and notes and obtain other funding to finance the appropriation.
