Interlibrary Rubik’s Cube Competition

#Middlebury #RubiksCube

Interested participants in grades 5-8 are invited to join the Southbury and Woodbury Public Libraries for an Interlibrary Rubik’s Cube Competition Saturday, Feb. 23, at 11:30 a.m. in the Kingsley Room of the Southbury Public Library. Prior to the competition, there will be drop-in practices at the Woodbury and Southbury Public Libraries.

For the practices as preparation for the competition, interested participants are invited to learn some techniques and hints, challenge each other, and practice. No cube? No problem! There will be cubes for borrowing, though anyone is welcome to bring their own cube. These practices are drop-in with no registration required and open to anyone in Grades 5-8; residents of any town can come to any practices. The dates and times are as follows:

Woodbury Public Library: Meets Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Feb. 16 in the Gallery Room of the library at 269 Main St. S. in Woodbury

Southbury Public Library: Meets every other Thursday from 4 to 5 p.m. Feb. 7 and 21 in the Storytime Room of the library at 100 Poverty Road in Southbury.

For the Interlibrary Rubik’s Cube Competition Feb. 23 at the Southbury Library, participants will compete in heats to see who can solve their cubes the fastest. There will be first- and second-place prizes. The competition will be followed by pizza.

This program is free to attend and open to anyone in grades 5-8 regardless of town of residency, but registration is required. There are three ways to register:

  1. In person at the Southbury Public Library or Woodbury Public Library.
  2. Call the Southbury Public Library at 203-262-0626, ext. 110, or the Woodbury Public Library at 203-263-3502.
