State Representative Bill Pizzuto (R-Middlebury) announced he will seek reelection to another term representing the 71st Assembly District in the legislature, where he has been an advocate for lower taxes, public health improvements, and electric rate relief. Pizzuto’s district is Middlebury and a portion of Waterbury. He has served in the role since February 2022.
“I am honored to be the voice of my neighbors up in Hartford. Over the coming year I plan to work with my colleagues to make Connecticut more affordable for families, bring predictability to business regulations, and hold the government accountable for using taxpayer dollars wisely,” said Rep. Pizzuto.
During the most recent legislative session, Pizzuto advocated for removing the Public Benefits Charges from energy bills. “We have started to address the high cost of electricity, but not enough was done last session to ease the burden of having one of the highest electric costs in the United States. I will continue to push for common sense legislation this session to make Connecticut more affordable,” said Rep. Pizzuto.
Prior to being elected as state representative, Pizzuto served as campus director for UConn Waterbury, a position he proudly held through more than 20 years of transformational changes in education and to downtown Waterbury. He also served as a Waterbury alderman. He currently is on the Waterbury Hospital advisory board, is a corporator on the Ives Bank Board and on the executive committee of the Northwest Regional Workforce investment board (NRWIB).
From volunteering on behalf of local boards to championing local businesses, Rep. Pizzuto has always kept his community in focus. He will continue attending local events and plans to go door to door to hear concerns and ideas from local residents. Rep Pizzuto plans to participate in the Connecticut Citizens Election Grant Program and has met the required threshold for constituent contributions and funding within the 71st district. Rep. Pizzuto serves as a member of the Aging Committee, Committee on Children, and the Human Services Committee.
