The America 250 Committee has come up with a T-shirt design contest for Middlebury students in grades K to 12 and an America 250 Cookbook project that welcomes submissions. The deadline for the T-shirt design contest is Monday, December 15, 2025; the deadline for cookbook submissions is Wednesday, December 31, 2025.
T-Shirt Design Contest
Do you have a creative idea? Did you know that next year is the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence? Show your community spirit and design our Middlebury, CT America 250 T-shirt!
All Middlebury residents in K-12 are welcome to create a T-shirt design. It must be your own original artwork; no AI generated work will be accepted for consideration. The design needs to be connected to the theme: America 250 Middlebury, CT. The design also must be community appropriate (nothing offensive or copyrighted).
The format for submission is either a digital file (JPEG, PNG, or PDF, at least 300 dpi) OR a neat hand-drawn design (scan or take a clear photo). All entries are due by December 15, 2025.

The winning design will be chosen based on creativity, the America 250 spirit/ Middlebury CT theme, and looking great on a T-shirt. The winning design(s) will be printed on the official T-shirt and the winner will receive a free shirt, gift card, and recognition.
By entering, you give permission for your design to be used on official t-shirts.
For the cookbook project, share your family’s favorite recipe! Be part of the America 250 – Middlebury CT Cookbook Project. Do you have a treasured family recipe, a go-to holiday dish, or a hometown favorite that everyone loves? The committee wants to feature your recipes in the upcoming America 250 – Middlebury, CT Community Cookbook!
Recipes they’re collecting: Appetizers & Snacks, Main Dishes, Soups & Salads, Breads & Sides, Desserts & Sweet Treats and Beverages. To submit a recipe,
- Type your recipe clearly (ingredients+ directions). If you have a clearly handwritten recipe you could also scan it and send it along.
- Include your name, and if you’d like, a short note about why this recipe is special to the history of Middlebury or America.
