Middlebury mil rate set, preliminary referendum results in

At a meeting following referendum voting on May 7, Middlebury’s Board of Finance set the 2025-2026 mil rate at 32.52. This is .08 lower than the 2024-2025 mil rate of 32.60.

Four of the five questions on the referendum ballot passed. The preliminary results, not yet certified, are:

Question 1, the Region 15 budget, passed with Middlebury voting 620 for and 481 against and Southbury voting 1,082 for and 400 against.

Question 2, Middlebury’s municipal budget, passed with 642 voting for it and 453 voting against it.

Question 3, the Pay AS You Go funding, passed with 600 votes for it and 479 against it.

Question 4, the FEMA/STEAP funding, passed with 724 for it and 366 against it.

Question 5, the CT Rush Central artificial turf project, lost with 278 for it and 812 against it.
