Southbury’s unofficial numbers for the Region 15 budget were 1,114 for it and 552 against it.

The Board of Selectmen and Board of Finance, in a joint meeting Wednesday night, decided to cut $65,500 from the municipal budget, lowering it to $13.04 million. Then they decided to cut $100,000 from the capital projects budget, lowering it to $2.39 million.

The new budgets will be voted on at a Wednesday, May 22, referendum. Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Shepardson Community Center at 1172 Whittemore Road.

This is breaking news. More information on the meeting and the cuts will be forthcoming.
