New Drubner application on P&Z meeting agenda

July 6, 2023 –An application for a Middlebury Zoning Regulations text change regarding building height in the LI-80 zone is listed under new business on the agenda for tonight’s Planning and Zoning (P&Z) Commission meeting. Applicants are Timex Group USA, Route 188 LLC (Stacey Drubner) and 555 Christian Road.

The meeting is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. in Room 26 at Shepardson Community Center. If the usual procedure is followed, the applicant will make a presentation to P&Z describing the proposed text change. Then P&Z will vote to accept or reject the application. For those unfamiliar with the process, please note this is acceptance or rejection of the application itself, not the text change.

If the application is accepted, a public hearing on the text change will be scheduled. A vote on the text change itself will not take place until after the public hearing is closed.

During the initial presentation of an application, there is no public comment. It is, however, included during the public hearing.

A public hearing on an application from Dean Yimoyines to allow bed and breakfasts townwide was on tonight’s agenda, but that application has been withdrawn. Applicants occasionally choose to withdraw applications without prejudice, and some of the withdrawn applications are resubmitted at a later date.

Items not on tonight’s agenda can be added to it during the meeting if two-thirds of the commissioners present vote to do so.

A public hearing for an application requesting a moratorium on distribution facilities of any size and warehouses larger than 100,000 square feet is still set for the August 3, 2023, P&Z hearing. That meeting also will be at 7 p.m. The usual location is Room 26 in Shepardson Community Center, but that may change depending on the number of people expected to attend. Look for more information on that public hearing closer to August 3.
