Loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother

Mrs. Frances (Ciarlelli) Dinova, 93, of Middlebury, was reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, Gus, on Monday, May 22, 2023, at St. Francis Hospital after a brief illness. She was the widow of August “Gus” Dinova.

Fran was born in Waterbury on September 21, 1929, daughter of the late Joseph and Vincenza (Cermola) Ciarlelli. She graduated from Leavenworth High School Class of 1947. She worked beside her husband and son at Four Corners Store from 1953 until her retirement in 1997. She was an avid golfer and a longtime member of the Watertown Golf Club. Other hobbies included bowling, playing cards, and playing bocci.

She was a faithful communicant of St. John of the Cross Church in Middlebury. Fran and Gus enjoyed their winters at their home in Naples, Florida, where she continued that tradition after his passing on July 7, 2011, after 57 years of marriage. Fran especially cherished spending time with her son, daughter-in-law, grandchildren, and great grandchildren whom she loved and adored.

Fran leaves to cherish and honor her memory; her son, Joseph Dinova and his wife, Lucy, of Middlebury; two granddaughters, Stephanie McCormack and her husband, Tim, of Middlebury and Emily Dinova and Greg Cioffi of Hoboken, New Jersey; two great grandchildren, Connor and Shannon Rose McCormack, both of Middlebury; and several nieces and nephews. Fran was predeceased by her three sisters, Eleanor Ciarlelli, Margaret Angelino, and Julia Guarino.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, May 25, at 11 a.m. at St. John of the Cross Church at 1263 West Street in Middlebury. Everyone is asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will be private. There are no calling hours. Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
