Middlebury questions pass, mil rate increases

Middlebury’s Board of Finance increased the town’s mil rate to 32.26 from the current 31.26 based on the May 3, 2023, referendum results. Preliminary results are as follows:

Question 1 (Town Budget) passed with 720 yes votes and 299 no votes.

Question 2 (Town Transfer) passed with 748 yes votes and 269 no votes.

Question 3 (Region 15 Budget) passed with a Middlebury and Southbury total of 2,138 yes votes and 1,041 no votes. Middlebury had 623 yes votes and 398 no votes while Southbury had 1,515 yes votes and 643 no votes.

Question 4 (Region 15 Bonding) passed with a Middlebury and Southbury total of 2,247 yes votes and 929 no votes. Middlebury had 661 yes votes and 362 no votes while Southbury had 1,586 yes votes and 567 no votes.

Please note these are preliminary results reported after the polls closed on May 3. Certified results should be available Thursday, May 4.
