P&Z to consider zoning regulation text changes

Thursday, January 5, at 7 p.m., the Middlebury Planning and Zoning Commission (P&Z) will hold a public hearing on a request to make three text changes to the zoning regulations. The commission usually meets in Room 26 in Shepardson Community Center at 1172 Whittemore Road, but the proposed text changes have generated interest among a number of residents, so it’s likely the meeting will be held in Shepardson auditorium.

The changes are being requested by the developer proposing to construct a distribution center on property that combines the Timex property on Christian Road and a smaller parcel that has Southford Road frontage. The project is being referred to as “Southford Park.” See www.bee-news.com/2022/12/22/proposed-project-seeks-approvals for more information.

Avalon Farms resident Donald Andrews posted on Facebook a document (see below) that lists the proposed text changes followed by five bulleted statements listing reasons the text change application should be denied by P&Z. He asked interested residents to print the document, fill in their names and addresses, check all the statements with which they agree, and email the document to Zoning Enforcement Officer Curt Bosco at cbosco@middlebury-ct.org or hand it in at the meeting. The document follows as a jpeg, which readers should be able to print out if they wish.
