St. John’s assistant resigns

#Middlebury

Barbara Whitaker, executive assistant to Middlebury First Selectman Edward B. St. John, met privately with St. John and Selectmen Ralph Barra and Elaine Strobel following the Board of Selectmen’s April 18 meeting to inform them she is resigning from her position with the town. She has worked for the town for 19 years, starting when her son and daughter were 2 and 5 years old, respectively.

In a telephone conversation afterwards, Whitaker said she has recently completed an MBA in human resources and has accepted a position in human resources at an unnamed company. She said her last day with the town will be Wednesday, May 4. She said she told St. John she would help to search for and train someone to fill her position.
