On Monday, January 31, 2022, Connecticut state officials said from Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at 8:30 p.m. to Sunday, January 30, 2022, at 8:30 p.m., the number of COVID-19 cases in the state rose to 699,400 cases. This is an increase of 6,014 cases over four days. The state daily test positivity rate as of Sunday, January 30, 2022, at 8:30 p.m. was 7.33%, down from 9.73% on Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at 8:30 p.m.

On Sunday at 8:30 p.m., 1,052 COVID-19 patients were hospitalized, a decrease of 219 patients since Wednesday. Through Wednesday, January 26, deaths numbered 9,908, an increase of 225 deaths since January 19. Deaths are reported once a week.

Cumulative cases in Middlebury and abutting towns were: Middlebury – 1,103 (+11) confirmed and 220 (no change) probable, Naugatuck – 5,954 confirmed and 1,157 probable, Oxford – 1,872 confirmed and 256 probable, Southbury – 2,325 confirmed and 526 probable, Woodbury – 1,123 confirmed and 234 probable, Watertown – 3,777 confirmed and 699 probable, and Waterbury – 26,439 confirmed and 3,806 probable.
