The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced on September 2, 2021, that the recreation area at Hop Brook Lake will remain closed, including throughout the Labor Day weekend, due to areas currently inundated from the recent Hurricane Ida Storm event. Facilities will remain closed until further notice so the Corps can empty stored flood waters and perform cleanup and maintenance checks to ensure visitors’ safety. Access to flooded areas will be prohibited to all visitors. At this time, a date when the areas will open to the public has not been determined.

After cleanup and inspections are completed by Corps personnel and made safe for public access, areas will reopen for public access as the pool level recedes. For up-to date information, visitors may contact the Hop Brook Lake Project Office at 203-729-8840.

Please note it is anticipated the swimming area at Hop Brook Lake will remain closed for the rest of the recreational season. The closure is a precautionary measure based on anticipated water quality problems due to the recent large flood event.
