This is an increase of 2,149 cases over four days. The state daily test positivity rate as of Sunday, August 29, 2021, at 8:30 p.m. was 3.10%, down from 3.64% on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, at 8:30 p.m.

On Sunday at 8:30 p.m., 380 COVID-19 patients were hospitalized, the same number as on Wednesday. Through Wednesday, August 25, deaths numbered 8,355, an increase of 25 deaths since August 18. Deaths are reported once a week.

Cumulative cases in Middlebury and abutting towns were: Middlebury – 668 (+3) confirmed and 106 (+2) probable, Naugatuck – 3,395 confirmed and 417 probable, Oxford – 930 confirmed and 97 probable, Southbury – 1,326 confirmed and 258 probable, Woodbury – 602 confirmed and 94 probable, Watertown – 2,324 confirmed and 347 probable, and Waterbury – 15,456 confirmed and 1,979 probable.
