This is an increase of 1,218 cases over three days. The state daily test positivity rate as of Wednesday, July 28, 2021, at 8:30 p.m. was 2.35%, up from 2.27% Sunday, July 25, 2021, at 8:30 p.m.

On Wednesday at 8:30 p.m., 112 COVID-19 patients were hospitalized, an increase of 4 patients since Sunday. Deaths numbered 8,293, and increase of 7 since Wednesday, July 21.

Cumulative cases in Middlebury and abutting towns were: Middlebury – 630 confirmed and 94 probable, Naugatuck – 3,234 confirmed and 372 probable, Oxford – 870 confirmed and 91 probable, Southbury – 1,255 confirmed and 232 probable, Woodbury – 569 confirmed and 82 probable, Watertown – 2,220 confirmed and 317 probable, and Waterbury – 14,955 confirmed and 1,738 probable.
