Middlebury Park and Rec programs include summer camps, and opening of the Middlebury Recreation Area (MRA). In our July issue, we’ll provide information on Volley Ball Camp that starts August 2, Mini-Hawks soccer, baseball and basketball that starts August 9, Multi-Sport Camp that starts August 9, and Flag Football Camp that starts August 16. Summer Playground Camps

Summer Playground Camp programs consist of six one-week sessions open to Region 15 residents with children entering Kindergarten through grade six. Sessions run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Grades K-2 meet at Middlebury Elementary School. Grades 3-6 meet at Meadowview Park. All camp locations are subject to change based on enrollment numbers, inclement weather and other factors.

Playground fees include one camp shirt per each child and in-camp entertainment. Optional field trip fees are extra.

Register early to guarantee your child’s placement in the program. No refunds will be issued for cancellations received after the Wednesday before the program begins.

Camp fees are $150 for residents and $175 for nonresidents, except for Week 2. Fees for that week are $125 for residents and $150 for nonresidents.

Session dates are Week 1: June 28 – July 2 Week 2: July 6 – 9 Week 3: July 12 – 16 Week 4: July 19 – 23 Week 5: July 26 – 30 Week 6: Aug. 2 – 6

Pre-Teen Camp consists of five one-week sessions for Middlebury residents entering grades 6 through 9. Registration will be open to nonresident Region 15 students based on availability.

Fee includes one camp shirt and up to two predetermined field trips per week, weather permitting.

Camp begins each day at Memorial Middle School and takes a mid-day shuttle to the Middlebury Recreation Area (MRA) on non-trip days.

Camp and trip locations & times are subject to change based on enrollment/weather
conditions/COVID restrictions/safety protocols.

Registration deadline is SEVEN business days prior to the start of each session. A $25 service charge will be applied for cancellation of a registration prior to June 1. After June 1, the service charge for cancellation will be $50. NO refunds will be given for sessions canceled SEVEN days prior to session start date.

Early Drop-off is available beginning at 8 a.m. The fee is $50 per week and pre-registration is required.

Camp Fees for Session One are $175 for residents and $200 for nonresidents. The fees for the other sessions are $220 for residents and $245 for nonresidents.

Sessions are: Week 1: July 6 – 9 Week 2: July 12 – 16 Week 3: July 19 – 23 Week 4: July 26 – 30 Week 5: Aug. 2 – 6

Preteen early drop-off at Memorial Middle School will be 8 to 9 a.m. $50 per session except for $40 for Week 1.

Memorial Basketball Skill Development Clinic – Director Jim Percival, Phys. Ed. Teacher and Memorial Middle School boys basketball coach will lead this camp. Memorial Basketball Camp is an energetic and supportive environment designed to improve the skills needed in the growth and development of all players. Activities include a variety of age appropriate games, drills, and scrimmages. The focus is on improving the fundamentals of the game, including shooting, passing, dribbling & rebounding. Learning will include both offensive & defensive strategies and techniques through an emphasis of good sportsmanship & teamwork.

This summer, there will be two sessions, one for players entering Grades 2-4 and one for players entering Grades 5-9.

Sessions will meet Monday to Friday, June 21 – 25, at the Memorial Middle School Gym. Grades 2-4 will meet from 8:30 – 11 am and Grades 5-9 will meet from 11:30 am – 2:30 pm. The fee is $130 for registration before June 1; $145 for registration on or after June 1.

Beginner Golf Camp for ages 5 to 8 will meet Monday to Friday, June 21 to 25, from 9 am to noon at Shepardson Community Center. The fee for this camp is $135.

Boys and girls will learn the fundamentals of form, swinging, putting and body positioning. Using the SNAG (Starting New At Golf) system, the camp will offer simplified instruction so young players can make an effective transition onto the golf course. No need to bring your own clubs, all equipment is provided. Please bring a water bottle. Registration Deadline is June 14.

STEM & Play Soccer Camp for ages 8 to 12 will meet Monday to Thursday, June 28 to July 1, from 6 to 7:45 p.m. at Meadowview Park. The fee for this camp is $99.

This program combines strategic STEM-based activities with traditional Skyhawks soccer instruction and a focus on life skills such as teamwork and sportsmanship. STEM Sports® soccer curriculum gives students the opportunity to get behind the sport they love with modules on soccer ball design, throw-in science, angles, and goal-line technology! Participants also will learn the fundamentals of passing, shooting, dribbling and defense through skill-based drills and scrimmages. Please bring a water bottle. Registration deadline is June 21.

Middlebury Recreation Area (MRA) opened weekends beginning Saturday, May 29. Please note swimming is permitted only when a lifeguard is on duty.

The MRA will be open daily starting Monday, June 14, from 10 am to sunset, weather permitting. The area is closed if it is raining at noon. The MRA will be open through Labor Day.

MRA beach passes are on sale in the Park and Rec office. To obtain a pass, residents and property owners must provide proof of residency or real estate and a copy of their car registration. A photo ID may be requested.

Fees are: Family Pass $165, Senior $45, Single Pass $95, Fireman $10. Additional stickers for $10 are available to holders of family, single or fireman passes.

Seniors 65 and older can obtain one senior pass per household for $45. Only household members 65 and older are eligible to use the pass. An extra car sticker for seniors is subject to the $165 family pass fee.
