Report Highlights

  • As of April 22, 2021, Middlebury’s rate of COVID-19 cases per 100,000 fell for the first time after rising four times in a row as of April 15, 2021. As of April 22, the rate decreased to 27.7 cases per 100,000 for the period April 4 to April 17, 2021, (16 cases in week 1; 14 cases in week 2) from 37 cases per 100,000 for the period March 28, 2021, to April 10, 2021 (24 cases in week 1; 16 cases in week 2).
  • Middlebury had 4 new confirmed cases and 2 new probable cases for the four days from Wednesday, April 21, 2021, at 8:30 p.m. to Sunday, April 25, 2021, at 8:30 p.m.
  • The cumulative number of cases (confirmed and probable) in Middlebury rose to 700 from 694, an increase of 6 cases, in the latest report from state health officials.
  • Middlebury reported no new deaths from COVID-19; total deaths remain at 19.

On Monday, April 26, 2021, Connecticut state officials said from Wednesday, April 21, 2021, at 8:30 p.m. to Sunday, April 25, 2021, at 8:30 p.m., COVID-19 cases in the state rose to 336,933. This is an increase of 3,201 cases over four days. The state daily test positivity rate as of Sunday, April 25, 2021, at 8:30 p.m. was 2.82%, up from 1.78% Wednesday, April 21, 2021, at 8:30 p.m.

On Sunday at 8:30 p.m., 436 COVID-19 patients were hospitalized, a decrease of 79 patients since Wednesday, and deaths numbered 8,066, an increase of 27 deaths.

Cumulative cases in Middlebury and abutting towns were: Middlebury – 618 confirmed (+4) and 82 probable (+2), Naugatuck – 3,101 confirmed and 318 probable, Oxford – 833 confirmed and 87 probable, Southbury – 1,220 confirmed and 214 probable, Woodbury – 557 confirmed and 74 probable, Watertown – 2,148 confirmed and 285 probable, and Waterbury – 14,238 confirmed and 1,485 probable.
