Report Highlights

  • As of April 22, 2021, Middlebury’s rate of COVID-19 cases per 100,000 fell for the first time after rising four times in a row as of April 15, 2021. As of April 22, the rate decreased to 27.7 cases per 100,000 for the period April 4 to April 17, 2021, (16 cases in week 1; 14 cases in week 2) from 37 cases per 100,000 for the period March 28, 2021, to April 10, 2021 (24 cases in week 1; 16 cases in week 2).
  • Middlebury had 6 new confirmed cases and 1 new probable case for the three days from Sunday, April 18, 2021, at 8:30 p.m. to Wednesday, April 21, 2021, at 8:30 p.m.
  • The cumulative number of cases (confirmed and probable) in Middlebury rose to 694 from 687, an increase of 7 cases, in the latest report from state health officials.
  • Middlebury reported no new deaths from COVID-19; total deaths remain at 19.

On Thursday, April 22, 2021, Connecticut state officials said from Sunday, April 18, 2021, at 8:30 p.m. to Wednesday, April 21, 2021, at 8:30 p.m., COVID-19 cases in the state rose to 333,732. This is an increase of 2,331 cases over three days. The state daily test positivity rate as of Wednesday, April 21, 2021, at 8:30 p.m. was 1.78%, down from 2.6% Sunday, April 18, 2021, at 8:30 p.m.

On Wednesday at 8:30 p.m., 515 COVID-19 patients were hospitalized, an increase of 21 patients since Sunday, and deaths numbered 8,039, an increase of 25 deaths.

Cumulative cases in Middlebury and abutting towns were: Middlebury – 614 confirmed (+6) and 80 probable (+1), Naugatuck – 3,068 confirmed and 309 probable, Oxford – 829 confirmed and 81 probable, Southbury – 1,217 confirmed and 206 probable, Woodbury – 556 confirmed and 71 probable, Watertown – 2,134 confirmed and 281 probable, and Waterbury – 14,092 confirmed and 1,440 probable.
