The Naugatuck Valley Genealogy Club will meet on Zoom Saturday, March 13, at 10:30 a.m. Following a brief business meeting, Toni McKeen will present “The Immigrant Experience.” She will discuss what it was like for immigrants to leave their home towns, what motivated mass emigration, how they got to a large port, the difficult journey across the Atlantic, the process through Ellis Island, and the difficulties they faced once they arrived. Her presentation will include documents such as health inspection cards, telegrams, and other documents involved in the immigration process, and will provide a better understanding of how immigration records are organized and
accessed.

McKeen, a resident of Ridgefield, Connecticut, is a popular lecturer at various genealogy societies in the New York, Connecticut, New Jersey, Boston, and Long Island areas. She is a member of several genealogical organizations, and is chairman of the Genealogy Club of Newtown.

There is no charge for the meeting. Members will receive email invitations to the Zoom meeting. Nonmembers can request an invitation by emailing their full name, address, telephone number and email address to  nvgcguestz2020@gmail.com no later than March 11.  Space is limited.
