On Friday, January 29, 2021, Connecticut state officials said from Wednesday, January 27, 2021, at 8:30 p.m. to Thursday, January 28, 2021, at 8:30 p.m., COVID-19 cases in the state rose to 250,023. This is an increase of 1,258 cases over 24 hours.

On Thursday at 8:30 p.m., 985 COVID-19 patients were hospitalized, a decrease of 10 patients since Wednesday, and deaths numbered 7,020, an increase of 26 deaths.

Cumulative cases in Middlebury and abutting towns were: Middlebury – 482 confirmed (+1) and 38 probable (no change), Naugatuck – 2,319 confirmed and 166 probable, Oxford – 589 confirmed and 36 probable, Southbury – 937 confirmed and 69 probable, Woodbury – 417 confirmed and 32 probable, Watertown – 1,519 confirmed and 143 probable, and Waterbury – 10,717 confirmed and 716 probable.
