On Thursday, December 31, 2020, Connecticut state officials said from Tuesday, December 29, 2020, at 8:30 p.m. to Wednesday, December 30, at 8:30 p.m., COVID-19 cases in the state rose to 185,708. This is an increase of 2,045 cases over 24 hours.

On Wednesday at 8:30 p.m., 1,136 COVID-19 patients were hospitalized, a decrease of 31 patients, and deaths numbered 5,995, an increase of 31 deaths.

Cumulative cases in Middlebury and abutting towns were: Middlebury – 374 confirmed (+4) and 31 probable (+1), Naugatuck – 1,754 confirmed and 108 probable, Oxford – 420 confirmed and 24 probable, Southbury – 712 confirmed and 48 probable, Woodbury – 328 confirmed and 19 probable, Watertown – 1,209 confirmed and 102 probable, and Waterbury – 8,592 confirmed and 565 probable.
