COVID-19 Update – August 31, 2020 – 52,879 cases

In the first report since Friday, August 28, 2020, Connecticut state officials on Monday, August 31, said that on Sunday, August 30, at 8:30 p.m. there were 52,879 COVID-19 cases in the state. This is an increase of 384 cases since Thursday, August 27. The total number of cases in Middlebury increased to 55 (+2).

On Sunday at 8:30 p.m., 52 COVID-19 patients were hospitalized, a decrease of 8 patients, and deaths numbered 4,465, with no new deaths reported since Thursday, August 27.

Cases in Middlebury and abutting towns were: Middlebury – 51 confirmed and 4 probable, Naugatuck – 425 confirmed and 11 probable, Oxford – 89 confirmed and 4 probable, Southbury – 206 confirmed and 5 probable, Woodbury – 57 confirmed and 1 probable, Watertown – 162 confirmed and 9 probable, and Waterbury – 2,177 confirmed and 96 probable.
