Q: I used to watch “Real Housewives of New Jersey” when it first aired and Dina and Caroline were married to brothers. I just read in the news that Dina’s husband was involved in organized crime and has been arrested. Is this true? – P.E.

A: Yes, it is true that Thomas Manzo has been arrested, but he’s now Dina’s ex-husband, not her current one. Dina has been married to entrepreneur David Cantin for three years now, but five years ago, Thomas allegedly hired someone to physically assault Cantin. People magazine also reports that Thomas offered a customer named John Perna a big discount on a wedding reception at the Manzo’s famous venue if he carried out the assault. Both Thomas Manzo and Perna have been indicted and should eventually have their day in court.

Q: I was showing my son the “Karate Kid” movies on DVD while we’ve been stuck inside during the quarantine, and he loved them. What is Ralph Macchio doing these days? – W.D.

A: It’s hard to believe that the ever-youthful-appearing Ralph Macchio is now 58 years old! His wife is a nurse practitioner, and they have two children who are 24 and 28 years old. He’s also still acting. In fact, he recently was part of a “Karate Kid” sequel – a series called “Cobra Kai” – that reunited Macchio’s character from the movie with his onscreen nemesis played by William Zabka.

“Cobra Kai” was available only on YouTube.com, but the show recently struck a deal with Netflix, which plans to air the first two seasons sometime this year. After that there’s talk of a third season, which also would air on Netflix.

Q: I miss being able to watch “America’s Got Talent” every summer. Will it return with some kind of modifications like they did with other talent shows? As much as I miss it, I actually wish they would hold off until they can film it in front of a live audience. – T.M.

A: According to TVLine.com, “America’s Got Talent” had filmed six episodes before having to shut down due to the pandemic, but NBC has come up with a creative way to resume filming ASAP. TVLine stated “the show is now relocating to an outdoor setup in Simi Valley, California, that’s designed to resemble a drive-in movie theater. The judges (Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum and Sofia Vergara) will be seated at a safe distance apart.”

There will be just one “judge cuts” show, which will air on Tuesday, July 28, and the live shows will debut beginning Aug. 11. In between is a special 15th anniversary episode on Aug. 4.

There also are discussions to “potentially include a physical or virtual audience.” People are starved for entertainment these days, so I would imagine the ratings for “AGT” will be higher than ever.
