The Waterbury Senior Center is offering a free, interactive six-week Live Well with Diabetes workshop. This program helps people with diabetes or prediabetes and their family members or caregivers learn new skills to help manage diabetes. The workshop takes place Wednesday mornings, Nov. 6 to Dec. 11, from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Waterbury Senior Center at 1985 East Main St.

Participants will learn about healthy eating, being active, blood sugar goals, how to treat low blood sugar, taking medications, communicating with healthcare providers, basic foot care, and sick day guidelines. Other topics include creating sample menus, learning about stress management and difficult emotions, developing action plans and avoiding complications.

Call today to register for this very interactive and informative class! There are books and gifts for all participants, and those who attend at least four of the six weeks will receive a $25 gift card. Class size is limited and pre-registration is required. To sign up, call 203-574-6746.

Live Well is sponsored by The Western CT Area Agency on Aging, State of Connecticut Unit on Aging and Connecticut Department of Public Health through grants from the Administration on Aging and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
