Celebrate Middlebury Sept. 21

#Middlebury #CelebrateMiddlebury

Folks at a previous “Celebrate Middlebury” event enjoy the day. This year’s event will be Sept. 21.

Saturday, Sept. 21, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Middlebury’s Shepardson Community Center field will be transformed into a field of vendors designed to bring both town residents and tourists together to enjoy the beauty and vitality of a fall afternoon in Middlebury. “Celebrate Middlebury” will feature the latest in food and festival trends with Middlebury restaurants, small business and community organization activities such as information tables and crafts and small games and giveaways, live music for the whole family, locally sourced handicrafts for sale, and much more. Participants will have plenty of time to visit with neighbors, learn about local businesses, dance along with friends to a live band and sample the wares of local restaurant vendors.

An area of the field will be designated “Best Tastes of Middlebury,” and will have Middlebury restaurants grouped together with tables and benches nearby. If you’ve been wondering how the food tastes at Cavallo’s Deli, Kitchen 64, Krispy Krunchy Chicken (Sunoco), Meet Me Here, Pies & Pints, Rita’s Italian Ice or Senor Pancho’s of Middlebury, don’t miss the chance to purchase some at the event.

Brass City Rescue Alliance will be set up in the air-conditioned North Shore Animal League van from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. They will bring all their available rescue dogs. Those interested in adopting at “Celebrate Middlebury” can fill out an adoption application online for pre-approval at www.adoptapet.com/bcra/adoption-application. Please state you will be attending the event so your application will be ready.

DanaLynn Dowling says she still has room for vendors, and there always is a need for volunteers. To volunteer, call 203-758-2520.

Middlebury vendors can rent a 10′ by 10′ space for $25; out-of-town vendors pay $35. They need to bring a table, chairs and a canopy. Find a registration form at middlebury-ct.org. Dowling said to ignore the Aug. 16 deadline on the form as she will take registrations until all the spaces are filled. Call Dowling at 203-627-9580 if you have any questions.

Community organizations are welcome to register as well. Each participating organization will have a designated space and is encouraged to plan interactive displays and activities as well as providing information. There is no charge for a Middlebury nonprofit organization, but registration is a must as space is limited. Registration forms are available at www.middlebury-ct.org and must be signed and returned to Middlebury Parks and Rec.

The fall festival is the work of the Celebrate Middlebury Committee, a group comprising Middlebury Parks and Recreation personnel and Middlebury residents whose mission is to provide community-wide programming to encourage a sense of community pride and civic investment among town residents. This festival is endorsed by the Middlebury Economic and Industrial Development Commission for the creative way Middlebury businesses and organizations will be featured.
