Region 15 Superintendent of Schools Joshua Smith has appointed two new administrators, Joseph Martino and Sarah Baudoin. Martino was appointed director of finance and operations and Baudoin was appointed food services director at the June 20 special meeting of the Region 15 Board of Education. Both positions will be effective in early August.

Smith said of Martino, “Mr. Martino’s background in educational finances and knowledge of school facilities and operations will serve him well in Region 15, we are excited to have him join our team and be a part of the positive work happening here. His leadership and partnership with the communities of Middlebury and Southbury will continue to provide both fiscal responsibility, transparency, trust, and support for our excellent educational system.” said Smith.

Martino is currently director of finance and support services for Danbury Public Schools in Danbury, Conn., a position he has held for the past eight years. Before that, he served for 10 years as director of technology in Regional School District 12, which serves Bridgewater, Roxbury, and Washington, Conn.

Martino replaces Keith McLiverty, who resigned as director of finance and operations in March 2019.

Smith said of Baudoin, “As a Certified Dietitian-Nutritionist and Registered Dietitian, Mrs. Baudoin brings to Region 15’s food services program a deep understanding of child nutrition program requirements and operational and directorship experience. Together these skills provide a framework for providing students with healthy, creative food choices while understanding the self-funded nature of our program. She will be an asset to the Region 15 team, supporting student health and nutrition and helping foster a program that supports our district values.”

Baudoin has extensive professional experience in leading large food and nutrition teams, a broad range of skills and certifications in nutrition and food service industries, leadership experience with numerous professional affiliations in nutrition and dietetics, and a background in implementing innovative opportunities for wellness in schools.

She is currently senior director of food and nutrition at The Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain, Conn., a position she has held for the past two years. Prior to that, she was the clinical nutrition manager at Waterbury Hospital in Waterbury, Conn.; a child nutrition consultant at the State Education Resource Center; and a project coordinator / research assistant for school wellness programs through the Department of Allied Health at the University of Connecticut.

Baudoin will replace Peter Brooks, who announced his retirement effective at the end of the 2018-19 school year after dedicating his 34-year career to Region 15. The District wishes him well.
