Q: I love how married actors Alexa and Carlos PenaVega have combined their last names into one. My sister said that Carlos used to be in a boy band before he starred in TV movies with his wife. Is this true? – T.S.

A: Yes, your sister has a good memory – or they are still airing reruns of “Big Time Rush” on Nickelodeon? Whichever is the case, Carlos Pena starred in the TV show about a group of hockey players who were recruited to be in a boy band in Hollywood. The actors did their own singing and dancing and even put out a couple albums and toured in real life as Big Time Rush.

Carlos Pena then became known as Carlos PenaVega when he and actress Alexa Vega married in 2014. They now both have the combined last name of PenaVega and have starred in several movies for Hallmark.

Next up for the duo is a “Picture Perfect Mysteries” movie titled “Newlywed and Dead.” It’s about a small-town New England wedding photographer, played by Alexa, who finds herself in the middle of a murder investigation when the groom is shot and killed at the reception. Carlos plays a detective on the case.

The movie will premiere Sunday, June 16, on Hallmark at 9 p.m. ET/8 p.m. Central.

Q: I’ve noticed a lot of former soap opera actors are on the show “Lucifer.” Did one of the writers or producers used to work in that industry? – J.B.

A: “Lucifer” moved to Netflix recently with new episodes after it was canceled by FOX after three seasons. It’s based on the comic book about Lucifer Morningstar, AKA the Devil, who leaves Hell to live among the humans of Los Angeles. It stars British actor Tom Ellis and was created by Tom Kapinos, whose previous writing and producing credits include “Dawson’s Creek” and “Californication.” There is no daytime soap experience on Kapinos’s resume.

As for soap stars who have appeared on “Lucifer,” there have been many, including Heather Tom (Katie, “The Bold and the Beautiful”), Colin Egglesfield (ex-Josh, “All My Children”) and Sean Carrigan (ex-Stitch, “The Young and the Restless”).

Q: Will “Bizarre Foods” ever come back with new episodes after the host got into trouble for something he said? – J.W.

A: “Bizarre Foods” was moved to a less desirable time slot this past December when host Andrew Zimmern insulted the quality of the Chinese restaurants in the Midwest. The Travel Channel, which aired the show, stated that it had already planned on moving “Bizarre Foods” to a morning time slot. Now, six months later, there still hasn’t been an announcement about any new episodes of “Bizarre Foods,” but it also hasn’t officially been canceled either.

Meanwhile, Zimmern’s Lucky Cricket restaurant, which he was promoting when he made his insult about his rivals, is still open in St. Louis Park, Minn.
