The Kiva Dance Collective, a modern dance company based in Middlebury, Conn., invites the public to its 20th annual concerts Saturday, March 9, at 7 p.m. and Sunday, March 10, at 2 p.m. at the LBD Performing Arts Theater at Westover School in Middlebury. Suggested donation at the door is $15 for adults, $12 for seniors and children over the age of 6.

In honor of Kiva’s 20th anniversary, the program will consist exclusively of Kiva repertoire. Joining the Collective in celebration are former Kiva members Rolanda Mitchell-Linton, Karen Donahue Rossignol, and Emily Wiadro, and Kivos John Bates, Peter Callahan, Russell Ehrman-Shapiro, Michael Kellogg, Ernie Linton, and Bob O’Sullivan. The Collective also welcomes Dina Addoisio, Linas Balsys, Eleanor Barisser, and members of Brass City Ballet as guest artists.

Six artists founded the Kiva Dance Collective  in 1998. Its members hail from diverse artistic backgrounds and, as a collective, share the role of choreographer. Members include founding artists Patricia Buchanan, Judith Ehrman-Shapiro, Gina Ferrara-Bates, and Valerie Rodgers, and newer members Meghan Buchanan, Mackenzie Callahan, Tatiana F. DaSilva, Deborah Jeanfavre, Susan McLain, Laura Tortora, and Mark Tortora.

Kiva is a Native American term defined as the sacred meeting place in the center of the village. The Collective invites the audience to join their sacred place as they work collectively through dance to share their artistic vision with the community. The concert is open to all ages. Tickets are available only at the door. For more information, please contact the Westover Dance Department at 203-577-4560 or visit kivadancecollective.com.
