Absentee ballots available at town clerk’s office

Absentee ballots are available in the Middlebury Town Clerk’s office for the May 2, 2018 Budget Referendum. Electors and property owners owning property assessed at $1,000 or more on the last completed grand list are eligible to vote. They also must be a U.S. citizen and at least 18 years old.

An application must be filled out before a ballot can be issued. Ballots will not be mailed. The applications are available at the Town Clerk’s office or can be downloaded from the Secretary of the State’s website at www.sots.ct.gov under Elections & Voting. Print application form for referendum with less than 3 weeks’ notice.

There are four questions on the ballot.

Question No. 1 is “Shall the 2018-2019 proposed Town of Middlebury Municipal Budget in the amount of $10,939,178 be approved?” Yes/No.

Question No. 2 is “Shall the proposed 2018-2019 Budget of the Pomperaug Regional School District #15 in the amount of $69,103,829 be adopted?” Yes/No.

Question No. 3 is “Shall the Town of Middlebury appropriate $780,000 to Account 01-74-90-7200 (Straw Pond Land Purchase) in the General Fund from Account 01-00-00-3707 (Unassigned Fund Balance) $580,000 in the General Fund and $200,000 from Account 30-71-20-6092 (Reserve for Town Facility Improvement / Land / Open Space in Reserve Fund)?” Yes/No

Question No. 4 is “Shall the Town of Middlebury appropriate $200,000 to Account 01-74-80-7000 (Upgrades to Town Facilities Reserve) in the General Fund from Account 01-00-00-3707 (Unassigned Fund Balance) in the General Fund?” Yes/No

The Middlebury Town Clerk’s office at 1212 Whittemore Road is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Additional information may be obtained by calling the office at (203) 758-2557.
