Loving mother, grandmother and respected educator

Leta R. Cybart, 73, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on March 26, 2018. She was the loving widow of Robert J. Cybart, her husband of more than 20 years before his passing in 1994.

Leta was born in Waterbury on Feb. 15, 1945, a daughter of the late Rocco V. and Lena (Scursso) Guerrera. She was a graduate of Wilby High School, Post University and the University of Sacred Heart, where she earned her master’s degree in religious studies.

Prior to her retirement in 2016, Leta worked as a first-grade teacher at Blessed Sacrament School for many years. She also served as the director of religious education and ran the after-school Rosary Club. She was an active, life-long communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church, where she founded the bereavement group plus served as a lector, Eucharistic Minister and school mass coordinator.

She was an excellent cook and avid walker who valued her family and her faith, serving as an inspiration to all who met her. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister.

She leaves her children Neil R. Cybart and his wife, Jennifer, of Middlebury, Alena Cybart-Persenaire and her husband, Mel, of Middlebury, and Andrea Murtishi of Waterbury; her brother, Rocco Guerrera and his wife, Elizabeth, of Waterbury; and her grandchildren Zachary, Tyler, Aryanna, Avery, Ava Ginger, Remy, Robert, and James.

Her funeral will be Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at 9:30 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Those planning to attend are asked to meet directly at the church. There are no calling hours. Chase Parkway Memorial/Albini Family Funeral Home is assisting her family with arrangements.
