A new collection of paintings and drawings by Washington artist Tom Pearsall brings together the artist’s dual interests in both modern and traditional motifs. His work is on display in the Stairwell Gallery at the Gunn Memorial Library in Washington, Conn,, through Oct. 15.

Pearsall earned a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of North Carolina, followed by a bachelor’s degree from Parsons School of Design and a master’s degree from Pratt Institute. Additionally, he attended the Lyme Academy of Fine Arts and has studied with Karen O’Neal, Christy Gallagher and Joel Spector.

“Having been trained and employed by modern architects, I developed a preference for representational minimalism,” Pearsall explained. “Since then, I have become more interested in traditional drawing and painting. In particular, some of my favorite artists are French and American impressionists.”

His exhibit may be viewed during library hours. For more information, call 860-868-7586 or email gunnstaff@biblio.org.
