Region 15 Superintendent of Schools Regina Botsford said Mary Lou Torre has been named interim principal of Middlebury Elementary School, effective Aug. 8, 2016, for the 2016-17 school year. Torre steps in for Lauren Feltz, who has accepted a position as principal of Middlebrook School in Wilton, Conn.

Feltz has been principal of Middlebury Elementary School for three school years. She previously worked as a classroom teacher in Wilton, Conn., and as an assistant principal in Berlin, Conn.

“Lauren Feltz has served Region 15 and Middlebury Elementary School with care, dedication, and expertise. We will miss her, and we wish her all the best in her future endeavors,” said Botsford.

Torre has 19 years of experience in school and district administration with a strong background in teaching and special education. Last year, she served Region 15 as interim principal of Gainfield Elementary School. Prior to that, she was the principal of Mitchell Elementary School in Region 14 from 2010 to her retirement in 2015.

“Mary Lou Torre will do an exceptional job as interim principal of Middlebury Elementary School, working closely with students, families and staff as we prepare to enter the new school year,” said Botsford. “Mrs. Torre has years of leadership experience that will be most valuable for our school community.”

Torre said, “I welcome the opportunity to return to Region 15. I am enthusiastically looking forward to meeting the Middlebury Elementary School students, staff, and families, and to partnering with them to continue the fine work at Middlebury Elementary School.”

Torre will fill the interim position until the end of the school year. A search for a new principal will be conducted later in the school year. #MIDDLEBURY #REGION15
