Free days at Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum

If you are traveling to the Boston area Labor Day or Columbus Day, you can take advantage of free days Monday, Sept. 7, and Monday, Oct. 12, at Boston’s Isabella Stewart Gardener Museum. Visitors will be welcome to explore the majestic gardens and legendary galleries of the museum for free.

Since 2003, the Museum has invited the public in for free admission on “Frank Hatch Free Day” in honor of Francis “Frank” Hatch (1925-2010), a longtime museum trustee, supporter of the arts and culture in the city, and a well-known community advocate in Boston politics. This year, it’s this coming Monday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

In October, visitors also are welcome to “Opening Our Doors Day” on Columbus Day, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. More than 20 institutions in Boston’s Fenway area come together for this free cultural event. From classical and jazz music performances to historical walking tours and activities for youth and families, neighborhood families and adults can enjoy the Fenway’s rich cultural offerings.

Here are the details for Labor Day’s “Frank Hatch Free Day:”

  • Free admission will be available at the museum entrance on Monday, Sept. 7 starting at 11 a.m., on a first-come, first-served basis.
